It is hard to box in what Forest Bathing is like because each person's encounter with the woods is so unique. However, one way to describe Forest Bathing might be that it is a sensory and meditative experience in the woods.
During a forest bathing experience we connect with each other and the non-human beings around us by slowing down and simply observing and listening.
A common experience for people is that they "feel like themselves again". They are able to get back to that place where they feel so relaxed in their own bodies and comfortable with who they are.
Imagine sitting on the forest floor and just feeling the soil with your hands. Or relaxing in your camp chair next to a Northern White Cedar with it's aged and gnarled roots. The organic smells and rich textures of the forest might remind you of those parts of yourself that you've lost a connection with because of the hectic pace of modern life.
You might start to notice again those inner stirrings, those quiet parts of yourself that are meant to guide you on your journey through life.
The forest is a patient mother, offering what you need at the times you need it most.
